Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max Shipping Timelines Slipping After Pre-Orders

Following the official reveal on September 9, Apple has finally kicked off pre-orders for its highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup. Customers in key regions can now pre-order the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max. While Apple initially promised September 19 as the shipping date for all models, iPhone 17 Pro Max shipping delays have already appeared due to overwhelming demand.

Pre-Order Surge Pushes Back Pro Max Deliveries

At launch, Apple’s online store displayed September 19 as the official shipping date. But within the first hour, availability for the iPhone 17 Pro Max slipped by at least one week. This quick shift shows how fast demand surged, leading to noticeable shipping delays across all Pro Max configurations.

Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max Tops the Trend

Apple’s new orange color option is making waves. Every storage variant of the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, including the premium $2,000 2TB model, is now listed with shipping delays until October 6 or later.

Silver Models Face Extended Wait Times

The silver iPhone 17 Pro Max is also caught in the backlog. Early pre-orders for the 512GB and 1TB models are now scheduled between October 6–13, while the 256GB and 2TB versions have been pushed back by around 10 days. Meanwhile, the blue iPhone 17 Pro Max is seeing milder delays, limited to roughly a week to 10 days.

No Delays for Other iPhone 17 Models

Unlike the Pro Max, the rest of the lineup is shipping right on time. The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro will all begin deliveries on September 19 in every available color and storage variant. Apple’s ultra-slim iPhone Air will also ship from launch day without any reported shipping delays.

In the US, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has already been hit by shipping delays until October, though the iPhone 17, Air, and Pro are still set for September 19.
