Google Cloud Introduces AI Ally for Security Teams

Google Cloud has announced a new vision to support overworked security teams—not with just more tools, but with AI-powered security tools acting as an intelligent ally.

At its Security Summit 2025, the company outlined its approach to free up human security experts from repetitive, time-consuming tasks so they can focus on high-value work. The key idea: use AI to protect organizations, while also securing AI systems themselves from potential cyber threats.

Securing the AI Ecosystem

Before AI can act as a reliable defender, its own environment needs to be safeguarded. To achieve this, Google Cloud is strengthening its AI Protection solution within the Security Command Center.

New upcoming features of its AI-powered security tools will:
1. Automatically discover AI agents and servers across environments, giving security teams full visibility of their AI ecosystem.

2. Detect vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and risky interactions.

3. Enhance real-time protection with Model Armor, which now extends in-line protection to prompts and responses inside Agentspace. This helps prevent prompt injection attacks and data leaks instantly.

To ensure AI agents comply with company policies, new posture controls will enforce security rules. Additionally, threat detection powered by Mandiant + Google Cloud intelligence helps identify and respond to suspicious activity from AI assets.

The Rise of the Agentic SOC

One of the most innovative announcements was the concept of an “agentic security operations center (SOC).” This future-ready SOC envisions AI agents collaborating to:

Manage threats autonomously

Automate alert investigations

Assist engineers in creating new detection rules

As a first step, Google Cloud launched the Alert Investigation Agent (preview). Acting like a junior analyst, it autonomously investigates security events, analyzes command-line activity, and builds process trees using Mandiant’s proven methods. It then delivers verdicts and recommends next actions—reducing manual effort and accelerating response times.

AI Security on Google Cloud’s Unified Platform

Within Google Security Operations, several enhancements are being introduced to expand its AI-powered security tools:

SecOps Labs (Preview): Early access to advanced AI-driven security capabilities powered by Gemini AI.
Unified Dashboards (GA): A clear overview by combining SOAR (security orchestration, automation, and response) data.

Trusted Cloud Enhancements

Compliance & Risk: A new Compliance Manager simplifies audits, while Risk Reports simulate attacker behavior using virtual red team tech.

Smarter Access Control: The IAM Role Picker (Preview) lets you describe a task, and Gemini recommends the least-permissive, most secure role. Sensitive actions now require re-authentication to reduce account takeover risks.

Expanded Data & Network Security: Sensitive Data Protection extends to Vertex AI, while Cloud NGFW enforces Zero Trust security on high-performance workloads, including AI.
